Last month, we introduced Blacklight, Nillion’s verification layer, designed to expand how work is checked and trusted across the network.
As the Blind Computer grows, verification becomes a core part of how workloads are validated and coordinated. Blacklight nodes support that process by helping verify work across the network.
Today, we’re introducing Managed Blacklight Nodes, a new way to participate in Nillion Blacklight.
Managed Blacklight Nodes
A Managed Blacklight Node is a simpler way to participate in Nillion Blacklight without managing the node infrastructure yourself.
Through the managed node web app, users can stake NIL and access their node through a dedicated dashboard without handling the setup directly.
Setting Up Your Node
The full setup takes place through the managed node web app.
Watch the walkthrough below for a step-by-step guide to setting up your Managed Blacklight Node.
For a written walkthrough, check out the steps below
Start by connecting your wallet at managed-blacklight.nillion.com.
From there, the app will guide you through the full flow:
- Bridging NIL
- Bridging ETH
- Staking to your managed node
1. Bridge NIL to Nillion’s L2
The first step is to bridge NIL from Ethereum to Nillion’s L2.
Inside the app:
- Select Ethereum as the source chain
- Select Nillion as the destination
- Select NIL as the token
- Enter the amount you want to bridge
- Confirm the transaction in your wallet
To take part, you’ll need to bridge at least 500,000 NIL.
2. Bridge ETH to Nillion’s L2
Next, bridge ETH from Ethereum to Nillion’s L2.
Inside the app:
- Select Ethereum as the source chain
- Select Nillion as the destination
- Select ETH as the token
- Enter the amount you want to bridge
- Confirm the transaction in your wallet
A minimum of 0.001 ETH is recommended.
After bridging, you may need to add Nillion’s L2 as a network and add the token in your wallet in order to see the bridged assets.
3. Stake Your NIL
Once both NIL and ETH have been bridged, the final step is to stake your NIL through the app.
Enter the amount you want to stake, click Stake Tokens, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
Once that’s complete, your Managed Node will be assigned automatically.
Rewards for Managed Nodes
Managed Blacklight Nodes follow the same reward model as Blacklight nodes more broadly.
Blacklight nodes are rewarded for the verification work they perform. Verification tasks are assigned based on stake, which means nodes with more stake are more likely to be assigned work and earn a larger share of rewards as that work is completed.
Rewards are funded directly by the network through a fixed annual reward pool. Currently, 0.5% of the total NIL supply is minted each year and allocated to Blacklight rewards. Because that pool is fixed, expected returns vary depending on how much NIL is staked across all Blacklight nodes.
Put simply:
APY ≈ (0.5% × total NIL supply) / total Blacklight stake
Since the total NIL supply is currently 1B tokens, the size of the reward pool is fixed, and expected APY depends on total Blacklight stake.
For Managed Blacklight Nodes, rewards can be claimed to your wallet or restaked directly through the dashboard. Claims directly to your wallet carry a 30% fee, while restaking to your Blacklight node carries a 20% fee. Unstaking is available at any time, subject to a 7-day unbonding period.
Get Started
Once your node is active, you will be able to access it through your dashboard, where you can monitor node status, claim rewards, restake rewards, add more stake, or unstake when needed.
To get started, head to managed-blacklight.nillion.com and follow the setup flow in the web app.
