Nillion Partners with Maya to Build a New Societal Architecture for Psychedelic Services

Charlie Rogers

Nillion is pleased to announce a partnership with Maya to create the world’s first fully decentralized secure computation and storage infrastructure for high value psychedelic services.

Introducing Maya

Maya, established in 2020 with $5.5MM raised, was developed in collaboration with leading researchers, practitioners, and business owners.

Today, as legislation paves a path forward for safe, measured, supportive and financially-accessible psilocybin services, Maya serves as the architectural framework for psychedelic services to exist in a structure that meets the needs of US and international stakeholders by maintaining consistent standards for measurement, best-practices, real-world research, and reporting in compliance with state laws.

Why Maya Is Important

Traditional software platforms — designed for medical clinics, therapy offices, pharmaceutical companies and insurance providers — are not well-suited for the fundamental needs of this new health and wellness category. Despite the best efforts in recent years by state authorities and research organizations to implement a solution that meets the complex needs of this burgeoning market, the day-to-day challenges persist for licensed psychedelic service providers.

Why Nillion?

The decision for Maya to begin migrating their backend architecture away from centralized data storage and compute engines, such as GCP and AWS, to the decentralized Nillion network is based on an unanimous recognition that deidentified, aggregate, real-world user data is a highly valuable asset for the refinement of mental healthcare models. Thus, Maya believes that the self-sovereign ownership of patient data with quantum-security at rest while being able to process that data in an encrypted manner constitutes a paradigm shift in user-centric data security.

However, collecting this information in an ethical and transparent framework will be essential as the ecosystem seeks to establish safety standards, discover new methodologies, enhance quality outcomes, and establish more efficient business models for psychedelic services.

About Nillion

Nillion is humanity’s first Blind Computer. It is powered by a decentralized network of nodes that enables “Blind Computation” through the coordination and orchestration of privacy enhancing technologies (PETs) such as multi-party computation (MPC), fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP). Nillion believes Blind Computation will become the internet’s base layer for all private data as PETs continue to mature. Nillion has attracted a notable initial cohort of Blind Computation builders across AI, DeFi, medical data, custody, wallets, global identity, messaging, and more.

The Nillion development company, Nilogy, was incubated by CoinList’s seed program. Nilogy’s Founding CTO was the Founding Engineer of Uber (Conrad Whelan), the Chief Strategy Officer was the Founding CMO of Hedera Hashgraph (Andrew Masanto), the Chief Business Officer is the Founder of Indiegogo (Slava Rubin), the General Counsel was the Associate General Counsel of Coinbase (Lindsay Danas Cohen), along with builders hailing from Consensys, LayerZero, Polygon and Google.
